The Best Laceless Speed Boot So Far? adidas X Speedportal+ First Showing

In hand I have the brand new adidas X Speedportal+, but rather than the garish green launch colourway, these are a totally blackout sample pair.

The first of the kind through the BootBlog, these are a prototype/sample pair of boots used by pros before launch!

So what do I think on first impressions? Well, I'm impressed!

Compared to previous generations of the X, the speedportal feels wider in the forefoot and toe box (which is also higher) allowing me to wear a UK7 rather than a UK7.5. I like my boots tight, and these feel snug without the cramping or discomfort.

The upper is soft and pliable, allowing it to take shape to your foot. The new opening its slightly tricky to get on the first couple of times, but you get use to it after that.

I'm also very glad that Adidas decided to get rid of the 'pods' in the heel as these were very hit and miss depending what socks you were wearing. In their place is a more traditional padded heel which feature some grip dots to help keep your heel locked in place.

We have a totally new soleplate and stud pattern which I'm excited to try out. Walking around for little while in them on fairly firm grass, there is no stud pressure which is always a delight to see.

I'll get some hours into these over the next few weekends and post my thoughts in a follow-up review.

Until then, ciao!
